Leroy Shakespeare and Ship of Vibes asked to headline the
2007 Bricktown Reggaefest, July 28th in Oklahoma City

For more than a decade from 1988 to 2001, Leroy Shakespeare and Ship of Vibes was one of the most popular & successful touring Reggae Bands in the U.S. The combination of Leroy’s charismatic and original vocal / rapping talents, laid on top of Dave Burris and Arthur Riddles traditional and psychedelic guitar/keyboard blend, and powered by a Roots & Dancehall Rhythm section proved to be an award-winning and headlining act at over 2000 shows and 200,000 miles.

Highlights for the band during the ‘90s were playing at many SXSW showcases, the New Music Seminar @ The Wetlands in NYC, for the entire Navajo Nation in Arizona, and headlining many outdoor festivals like World Musicfest , Spring Break Padre, Bricktown Reggaefest, Fry St. Fair, and the world famous Kerrville Folk Festival. Over the years, Leroy and band released 5 CDs, a cassette EP and a 12” 45. In 2005, the band played their 1st shows together in over 5 years, and the 2500 fans at Reggaefest let them know they had been missed by calling them back for 5 encores!

Those shows at Irie Connection, Old Crow (and the ’05 Reggaefest) were such a blast, and although Leroy now splits his time between Dallas and L.A. and we all have other projects, busy lives and families, when we were invited back to headline this years festival , we had to say yes. This is more “Family” reunion than band reunion, and definitely time to celebrate 20 years of riding on the “Ship of Vibes” from Kool Vibes and the Prophet Bar, Taos to Telluride, and all the at friends we met along the way. Even after all these years, our songs (old and new) still have a ‘mystical’ energy and I get that same ‘trippy’ feeling (no, that was then – this is now) when we’re onstage.” THANKS TO THESE AMAZING VENUES, Here is:
